Jesus Christ is God

The entire Word of God centers on the person of Jesus Christ. The Old Testament looks forward to the coming of the Messiah. Jesus Christ was the Messiah. The New Testament tells us about His life, death, resurrection and about His continuing ministry through the lives of His followers. To understand Scripture we must understand Jesus Christ.

Christians also need to know about Jesus because we represent Him. Christian means like Christ. If we call ourselves by His Name then we should represent Him as He truly is.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and a member of the Trinity. The New Testament in many passages teaches that Jesus is God. The Apostle Paul wrote, "[Jesus Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. . . . For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.'' (Colossians 1:15,2:19)

Even the Old Testament in prophesy proclaims that the Messiah would be God. "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.'' (Isaiah 9:6)

Jesus Christ is God. He is not a creation of God; He is the Creator. He is not one of many gods; He is the one true living God. He did not become God; He has always been God. He is not just part of God; He alone is God. He is the only God. He is completely God. Jesus said, "I and My Father are One.'' (John 10:30)
